ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
PROJECT 1: MY COMMUNITY MY COMMITMENT
This project is a group project which I would have to form into a group of ten people. This project required us to do a community service which we have to serve a community which is facing environmental-community issues, for example, the homeless people, orphanage, low cost housing neighborhood, old folks and so on. Besides that, after selecting the community that we wanted to serve or our project site, we have to do a proposal on how do we want to serve the community. This project required us to design and built any sustainable objects or furniture. The timeframe of this project is about ten weeks, therefore, we have to visit our project site every week in order to show our work progress to our tutors. Furthermore, we are required to produce A2 size research posters which include the issues of the community, solutions, progress and the final products of this project. Moreover, we are also required to do a video of our work progress at our project site.

​For the project My Community My Commitment, my group members and I had decided to do our community service in an orphanage named Rumah Charis. The issues that Rumah Charis is facing were they have not enough bookshelves to place their books and they need a small cabinet for the orphans to put their belongings. Therefore, we decided to build two bookshelves, one cabinet, and paint some mural art paintings onto the walls to decorate their place. We visited Rumah Charis for every once a week to proceed our work there and show our progress to our tutors. We divided our tasks by splitting into three sub groups, we have four members in charge of the bookshelves, two people in charge of the cabinet and the other four members in charge of the mural art painting. We managed to finish building these two furniture and the mural art paintings before the due date of the project and the people of Rumah Charis were very satisfied with our final products.
REFLECTION:
In this project, I have gained many new experiences on learning some skills on designing and making furniture and also on communicating with different people such as the person in charge of Rumah Charis and the orphans there. Besides that, I had also learned how to manage our time management in order to complete the project within the deadline.
