PROJECT 1 : STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF A BUNGALOW

GROUP COMPONENT

INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT

CALCULATIONS

Project 1, Structural Analysis of a Bungalow is combination of group and individual project which required students to form a group consists of 6 students. This project is to enable students to understand the structural theory of a building such as load distribution of columns and beams, and the basic force calculations for beams, columns, slabs. This project required students to find a set of drawings of plans and sections from multi story bungalow house for structural analysis purpose. Students have to identify the position and load distribution for the beams, columns and slabs within the house. Besides that, students also required to produce a report which consists of important drawings and load distribution diagrams. The drawings include are a set of floor plans, roof plan, foundation plan while the load distribution diagrams include are load diagram, load distribution plans, bending moment diagram, shear force diagram for the beams, columns and slabs. The report also include important descriptions regarding on the drawings and diagrams.

The individual component of this project required student to analyse and calculate the force calculation for the load of the beams, columns and slabs of the bungalow house. Each student will have to analysis the structural load distribution for four beams and four columns within the bungalow house. Then student have to identify the load of the beams and columns in order to calculate their forces and produce a shear force diagram for each beam and column calculation.
