PROJECT PART A : ONLINE GROUP FORUM
In this project, in a group of four each of us are required to select a question from the project brief in order to work as a team to research about our building that was given by our tutors. This project enables us to work together as a group to research more on the history, functions, forms, materials and significances of our building. After completing our researches, we are required to post them in the wiki space together with some images and sketches.
REFLECTION :
In this online group forum project, I had selected the third question in the project brief which requires me to answer the shapes and forms of Saint Vyes church of La Sapienza and its significance on its shapes and forms. In this proejct, I learned that about the shapes, forms and significances of the church of Saint Vyes of La Sapienza in Rome through researches from the internets and books. Besides that I did a comparison between Saint Vyes church San Giuseppe dei Falegnami on their shapes, forms and significances as both of the churches are located at Rome and was built on the same era of architectural style. In my forum, I also included some of the related images and sketches to give a clear understanding on the topic instead of just using words to describe something.
PROJECT PART B : PRECEDENT STUDYAND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS JOURNAL AND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS REPORT
In the second project, precedent study and comparative analysis journal and comparative analysis report, the task that I am required to complete is to do a sketch journal and report with related sketches of floor plans, hostorical timeline and more and 500 words in it. The journal is a compartive sketch journal and report that required me to include comparisons between Saint Vyes church and two more buildings from before and after my building's architectural style. Besides that, in this journal I have to include a historical timeline of my building, a comparative analysis case study for the compariosn of the two buildings and the technology development and advancement of Saint Vyes church and the two buildings.
Reflection:
In this project, the two buildings before and after Saint Vyes church's architectural style that I used for the comparison in my journal are Saint Isaac's Cathedral and Saint Peter's BasilicaI had did a historical timeline for the church of Saint Vyes and also a comparitive analysis for Saint Vyes church, Saint Isaac's Cathedral and Saint Peter's Basilica. I had learned about how the history of Saint Vyes church, how it was built and the speciality behind it. Moreover, through the comparative anlysis,I also learned about the building structure differencesin terms of architectural styles of Saint Vyes church, Saint Isaac's Cathedral and Saint Peter's Basilica.
PROJECT PART C : ANALYSIS PRESENTATION BOARD
In the last project, analysis presentation board, I am required to select a question regarding the conceptual elements of Saint Vyes in the project brief. After selecting the question, I have to create a presentation board consists of design concepts, floor plans, section plans and related sketches of Saint Vyes church. Furthermore, for my question, I have to analyse about the spatial organization for Saint Vyes church. In my anlysis, I have to include researches and sketches on the saptial planning, location, unique significant designs of Saint Vyes church and more regarding on project brief requirement.
Reflection:
In this project, I spend most of the time doing researhes and sketches regarding on the spatial organization of Saint Vyes church. I learned about the functions of certain parts in the floor plan of Saint Vyes church, the concepts and unique significance of Saint Vyves church during the Baroque architectural style period. Besides that, I also learned about the design elements that Saint Vyes church has, such as balance and symmetry, repetitive and hierarchy.
Overall Reflection :
In this module, I had learned about different architectural styles throughout the world history. I also learned that different architectural styles have their own unique design and different technology used. I realize that each culture and civilization in different times had their own unique styles and technology construction. Although the construction technology development were getting more and more advance due to the changes of time, but I found that the architecture concepts and ideas by the Greeks and Romans were brillant in terms of town planning, monuments and technology. For example, the Pathenon built by the Greeks are based on the concept of the golden ratio and the ampitheater that have a perfect acoustic system. Moreover, the technology that were used by the Romans in road construction and also the Roman aqueducts that were used to transport water supply form the water reservoir to the city.
