Project 1 is a group project which consists of 6 students in a group. The purposes of this project is to enable students to understand the basic principles, process and components of building services installed in a multi story building. This project required us to visit and observe the mechanical ventilation, air conditioning, fire protection and mechanical transportation systems in a multi story building. These are the important services that are used in a building and these services are installed based on the Uniform-Building-by Law(UBBL). Students are also required to produce a detail report on these important building services based on the building they visited. The report consists of the types of services, components, process and Uniform-Building-by Law(UBBL) for students' further understanding on these building services systems applied in a building.
Project 2 is an individual project which aims to develop students' knowledge on the applications of basic building services systems in a building. The objective of this project is also to enable students to understand various building services systems in order to apply the appropriate building services systems onto specific building design. In this way, students are able to provide solutions to solve building services systems issues in a specific building design. In this project, students are required to produce a set of drawings based on their Architectural Design Studio IV building design. The set of drawings includes a site plan, roof plan, cold and hot water supply system, sewerage and sanity system, surface water drainage system, electrical supply system and schematic drawings of cold and hot water supply system and sewerage and sanity system. Besides that, students are also required to produce a detail journal which consists of drawings, diagrams and annotations, descriptions, parts and components, process and ways of installation of these building services systems.
